The new CCC standard GB4943-Information Technology Equipment safety requirement: 2011 will be implemented on December 1st, 2012 and GB8898-Audio Video and similar electronic apparatus safety requirement: 2011 will be implemented on November 1st, 2012.
The current standards GB4943-2001 and GB8898-2001 will be invalid after those deadlines.
Manufacturers need to revise their current CCC reports and certificates to comply with the new standards before their next scheduled factory inspection after the deadline listed above.
The main differences of the new version versus the current one are the requirements for higher altitude and Torrid Zone (hot climate) areas. Products that are intended to be sold to environments with an altitude higher than 2000m or in a Torrid Zone area will need to meet the new additional requirements for clearance space and temperature rise. Critical components, such as power supplies, should also have their reports revised to cover the new requirements. There will also be some other changes like grounding and touch current requirements which may affect the current construction.
G&M Compliance Inc. has extended an invitation to the official experts from CQC-TS and is in the process of organizing a training seminar to introduce the detailed requirements. Please be sure to check out our upcoming seminars page on our website at http://www.gmcompliance.com/home/certification/training/ for announcements on this event. We will also be sending out the official registration newsletter when the details have been confirmed.
