As of July 25, 2012, secondary cells and battery packs fall under Self-regulatory Safety Confirmation of KC Certification per the Electrical Appliances Safety Control Act. Lithium secondary cells and battery packs with energy density equal to or greater than 400Wh/L for use in portable devices are required to have KC Certification. Cells and batteries for use in portable devices with a function of navigation are required to have certification regardless of the energy density per dimension. Button type batteries are excluded from the certification. The technical requirement to the cells and battery packs has been changed to K62133, which is harmonized with IEC 62133.
