The Mexican Ministry of Economy has in the Official Gazette dated 31 December 2012 published new regulations. These include a requirement that importers of telecommunication products to Mexico must at the point of entry now present certificates showing that the products comply with NOM-121-SCT1-2009 and/or NOM-151-1999.
NOM-121-SCT1-2009 is the Mexican standard for radio devices such as Wi-Fi, Zigbee and Bluetooth, while NOM-151-1999 is the standard for analogue PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) terminal devices, such as traditional telephones or FAX machines that plug to the wired phone network.
