If you don’t know, G&M Compliance assists with India AIS certification, which is used for automotive components and vehicles certification in India. We work directly with India ARAI, one of two main certification bodies for automotive components and vehicles certification.
The India AIS certification process follows:
- Application for Type Approval
- Initial Document Review
- Testing for Type Approvals
- Issuance of Type Approval Certification
- Marking & Labeling
If you have worked with us in the past for China CCC Automotive certification, India AIS is quite similar. Like China CCC Automotive, India AIS also require an Initial Factory Inspection for manufacturers that are not already AIS approved. Annual inspections are also required every two (2) years to keep factories valid. If you would like more information on this process, please contact G&M Compliance.
Electric Vehicles and Electric Vehicle Lithium-Ion Battery Testing are growing markets for India Automotive, and we are pleased to announce we now can assist with Electric Vehicle and Electric Vehicle Lithium-Ion Battery Testing and Certification.
Along with vehicle components and electric vehicles, which currently require mandatory AIS certification, the Indian government have also added the following categories:
- <250 W Electric 2 W
- Electric 2W (L1/L2 Category)
- E-rickshaw/E-cart
- E-auto (L5M & L5N category)
- 4W Passenger Vehicle (M1/N1 category)
- Heavy Vehicle (M2/M3 category)of Electric Vehicles in India
- EV Charging stations
- EV Battery Packs
For certain electric bikes that fall below the 250W minimum requirement, certification may not be required, but limited testing is still needed. E-rickshaw and E-Carts fall under this exempt category as well (based on their power and speed capacities), but limited testing is still required.
India ARAI has facilities to test EV chargers for electrical and functional safety. In addition, there are environmental and EMC chambers to verify an EV Charger’s ability to function reliably under mechanical/environmental stress and adverse electromagnetic conditions.
