Beginning August 1st, 2023, the China State Administration for Market Regulation will begin certification for the following products, listed in the table below. These products include lithium-ion batteries and battery packs, mobile power supplies, and power adapters/chargers for telecommunication terminal products used in electronic and electrical products.
- Any products now included in this list must be certified by August 1st, 2024 for products to continue to be sold in the China market.
- As a note, Lithium-ion batteries and battery packs for e-cigarettes are not included in this new requirement.
- China GB Standard, GB31241-2022 “Lithium ion battery and battery Pack Safety Technical Specifications for Portable electronic products” will begin to be enforced on January 1, 2024.
