Brief Background:
TEC is the Telecommunication Engineering Center under the Department of Telecommunications. Originally, TEC certification was a voluntary process that started in 1991, but in 2017, the Testing & Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE) group was started, and deemed TEC certification mandatory for certain product types. Additional product types have been added to TEC as of 2019, but a majority of products are still pending an implementation date.
