Earlier this month, the Inspection and Quarantine Bureau of Yixing, Jiangsu province, inspected an export enterprise and found out that the Quality management system certification and environmental management system certification of the enterprise were invalid. The documents were issued by an Australian certification body which is not approved by CNCA. It turns out that this certification body didn’t carry out the audit of the certificated enterprise in accordance with the relevant provisions. CNCA verified and confirmed that the Quality management system certification and environmental management system certification of this enterprise are invalid. It was determined that the Australian certification body was illegally conducting certification activities within the territory of China.
According to the law of the People’s Republic of China on certification and accreditation regulation rules, Foreign certification bodies who wants to carry out the certification activities must be approved by the CNCA first. Any unapproved certification activities in China will be regarded as illegal certification. Illegal certifications cannot be officially recognized in China. On this point, Inspection and quarantine departments would like to remind companies that using foreign certification agencies to engage in certification activities, they must ascertain the agency certification qualification, certification scope and other relevant information through the CNCA website in advance, and to also seek advice from the local inspection and quarantine departments to ensure the legitimacy of the certification.
